Gun Season tips
 

Season starts this coming Saturday in Wisconsin any last minute tips anyone want to offer especially for a swamp I am finally going to hunt after10 years of only once hunting it. It is public land everywhere on the map but in yellow is pretty much the swamp area.

I would say scout it good really well and try to set up where or around where afew different deer paths are intersecting. Also look for any sign of scrapes or bedding areas

We found some the other day on public land not too far from the farm and I tell you there had to have been 70 deer using that wallow. Not to mention you can smell the estrus and musk before you even find one.

A guy I work with hunts an area like this over towards Necedah in some peat bogs and swamp. Judging by the roads to the North and South...pressure will be from those areas where a good share of the other hunters will be parking and walking in (and out). If you can get there, I would go as deep as you could to the southwest, provided it allowed good cover and showed the signs of escape outlets and natural funnels.Get in there early. Every year more and more guys come pulling in at first light and if you're sitting pretty, your season may be over by 7 am. There's always a good swamp buck to be had...getting him out of the woods after you take him is the 2nd hardest part of the hunt. Good luck this weekend. I'm jacked.

Actually, I would look at the complete opposite spots wis_bow_huntr mentioned. I would try to find the few dry spots with good cover. A little bit of high land with some thick stuff would be the key. When the pressure is on in WI, you can bet the big boys will be looking for spots to hang for the week, especially if you hunting public ground.
