Default Shooting a spooked buck while Pheasant hunting

I was wondering if any of you thought I was stupid enough to shoot a buck with #6 lead shot...

Happy New Years' to all of you.

Take your children out fishing and hunting next year. They are the future of outdoor sports.

Did you? I personally wound not have, but on the other hand in the excitement I would imagine this could happen for some people.

How close was the deer and did you kill it <img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

I wanted to add that if you did in fact take this shot it was'nt too smart. Was this shot taken in the heat of the moment or did you actualy mean to shoot this buck with bird shot, control and disipline is a great comoditiy in this sport.

Happy new year to you too.

KEEP HUNTING THE GREAT OUTDOORS & GOD ALIVE, PASS IT ON!

yes! Sorry but I have to be honest, buckshot or slugs for a deer in my book, as a matter of fact I do not even beleive anything but buckshot or slugs are legal for deer in Va.

what do you think I am? Of course, I would not shoot a buck while pheasant hunting, UNLESS my dog locked on point, and the buck flew up on the sky with a pheasant custom on!

Happy New Years to all of you (again).

Actually, I've done this for years...when my bird hunting troop gets together, we always wear blaze anyway, and we often hunt grounds that I have permission to, but aren't quite salty enough to actually try to hunt often (better ground elsewhere). A couple of my buddies carry o/u's, which they enjoy slug hunting with too, and I'm a SXS guy, so we'll all load a slug, them in their top brl, me in my rear trigger brl (always forget which is which)...I also hunt with my pump in single shot mode with a slug in the tube, so I just have to flip a switch, cycle and take aim.

Of course we don't do anything stupid like take shots on sprinting deer or at long ranges or anything like that, but we've gotten 4 or 5 between the four of us while doing so, most of them being about 20yrd shots, they just lay their until we almost step on them after we've gotten a couple birds (shots fired that is).

Only real problem is getting a deer into a game bag?? <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Screw the 10 ring, keep them in the zero!!!
