best way to freeze meat
I usually freeze my deer meat in a ziploc bag but after 5 months it appears to be freezer burnt. Is there a better way to freeze it? What about the white butcher paper. Thanks.

I use butcher paper and haven't had any problem with freezer burn.

I usually vacuum seal mine and I never had a prob. with it.

RE: best way to freeze meat
The vacuum sealer is the only way to go IMHO. We are just cleaning out the freezer in preparation for deer season, and I have been eating steaks from 2004 and 2005. They were perfect.

Yup, vacuum sealer is the trick. We got one on clearance at target for $20 (regularly $60).

Vacuum Seal, by far the best.

RE: best way to freeze meat
Vacuum sealer is best, but if you don't have one like me try giving the meat a light coat of vegetable oil followed by a double thick wrap with palstic wrap. I secure mine with an additional wrap of aluminum foil. I've got two year old venison in the freezer that tastes as good as the day I shot it. Freezing air is the enemy of frozen meat.
