deer and rain
How much does rain affect deer? It had been raining all morning pretty hard most of the time. I didnt go out this morning had to work, but afterwards driving in town saw a few standing in a corn field.

RE: deer and rain
Rainy days can be one of the best times to hunt. One, it will soften the leaves so you can move through the timber quieter. Two, it will sometimes create a sense of security for the deer. Maybe they think nothing else would be out moving in the rain(light rain/drizzle). Three, being set in your spot, for when the rains stops or lets up. Deer will almost always stay holed up during a heavy rain. When the rain stops, they will move out of cover to feed, and travel. Of course, sitting out in a thunder/lightning storm is not the best of ideas though.

RE: deer and rain
Personally, hunting in the rain for me has always sucked. Probably because I havent had waterproof clothing lol. Ive seen deer on rainy days, but no more than I see any other day. Never have shot a deer on a rainy day though.

just make sure that you make a good shot so they go down fast. the rain can wash away a blood trail real quick.

RE: deer and rain
I agree with deerdust, rainy days can make for awesome hunting.. also as soon as that rain clears make sure you are in the woods as the deeer movement is excellent after a good rain
