My favorite stands are less than 100 yards from my door, so I go in when there's enough light to see so I don't make so much noise. When I hunt away from home I go in well before sunrise to allow time for the woods to calm down, this way I don't have to be as quiet.

For gun... I try to be sitting and silent with 35 to 45 minutes prior to sun up. Then I listen to see how long it takes for someone to shoot before legal light hits, or if they just touched one off with their safety disengaged. Always seem tohear some shots REAL early every year.
Bow...sometimes earlier than that. Don't get too much time other than weekends for me to bowhunt.

I just finished printing off sunrise and sunset times for the next couple of weeks so I could plan exactly when to get there and when i could start shooting
. I like to get out to my spot and settle in at leat 45 or so before.
