Grunting

So i was hunting to night and i decided to try grunting and rattling. I have seen some smaller bucks running around chasin some does but no big ones. About night fall i rattled and let out 2 grunts, and i finally got a grunt back. I could here him just behind this tree but it sounded like more than one deer. I answered him back once again with another grunt but he never showed himself. SO my question is is it better to answer a deers grunt or should you try a bleat, or just leave it be and hope he comes in?

RE: Grunting

Leave it be, unless he's far away. If he was close enough for youto hear, he might have pin pointed you when you grunted back. Make him "search" for the source of the first grunts sequence you did. Good Luck.

i agree with solocamcan.. if you had grunted and he grunted back and is close to you.. let him come in.. deer are naturally curious and chances are he will come in to investigate.. i know its hard to not grunt back cause you think for sure that your next grunt will have him running in. But be patient and he should show himself.
