I can only tell you how I make them-works but I don't know if it's correct way or not. Cut the skin almost at the "knee",peel skin back and cut thru bone,etc,2/3-3/4 way toward knee, wire them fixed in 90 degree bent, pack inside with table salt, hang to let dry several months.

I've bent mine in the 90 degree angle and nailed them to a board, not through the bone. Just nail along the 90 degree outline. You can also use Borax (20 mule team brand?? I think)to help them dry out

My dog eats them before I can even think about it.

Just make sure that crap, I suppose it's bone marrow (sp?) dries up real good or it will start stinkin up your house. Once it's dry I take a drill and drill a nice round hole through the middle of the bone and glue in a wooden dow rod. That gives a nice bite to put a screw in if your mounting it to a board. Sorry I have no pictures, but I've make a gun rack and a coat rack with the legs.

I pack toothpics and glue in the bone. Takes a screw real nice. Also when you cut the legs to length measure from the dew claws about 3" so it holds the gun and wont let it tip over. Obvious I know, but when you put the hanger hardware on the base boad spread them out 32" so you are sure to hit 2 studs to hang the gun rack.
