Default Well, this encounter was weird.

Hey all,

Went out for the start of muzzle loader season this past saturday morning here in northeast Louisiana. I got into my tripod at 5:30am, and at 8:00am, a medium sized doe walks out and I put her down. After I tracked her down, gave thanks toGod forher, I headed back to camp. After getting back to my camp, I put my atv with the deer strapped to it in the back of my truck, and left for home, which is about a 50 mile drive. Now, in the area I'm driving through, dead deer on vehicles or trailers is a common sight. While driving, I noticed this woman pull up behind me, lean forward in her car, narrow her eyes and start staring at my deer. After a few seconds of staring, she yanks out a cell phone and starts talking and still staring at my deer. So, I slowed down a bit, just to see if she would pass me, but she never did. She stays with me the entire time. When I get within 10 miles of home, I glance in my rear view mirror, and she's got a camera out taking pictures?!? I mean she's got it balanced on the steering wheel while right on my tail, snapping pictures. I can see it now, I'm gonna end up on a friggin peta website.

I live in Monroe, but I hunt in Union Parish. The turnoff to my club is off of Hwy. 2 through Farmerville.

Part of what should be learned in a Hunters Safety course is what NOT TO DO to anger the non hunters and anti hunters. One of those things is when transporting your kill to ATTEMPT to not DISPLAY it in such a manner.
She probably was offended by your transportation method.
Was there another way you could have transported your deer......like in the bed of your truck while your atv was on the trailer or to cover it up with a tarp.....!!
I'm not slamming you just wondering if you had thought about it!

No offense to PM69442 but it shouldn't really matter how he transported the deer. Its legal to shoot and kill deer and its legal to transport them. If he ends up on a PETA website then so be it but i highly doubt transporting a deer is going to get your hunting and gun rights taken away.

It is his right to transport or "display" the harvest anyway he sees fit so long as it does not create a danger to anyone.

Now as to what "should be learned in a hunter safety course" is about the hunter interference/harassment laws.

In this situation I would be so tempted to get out and walk back to her and tell her ..........

"BACK OFF! IT'SMINE!GO GET YER OWN!!"

I'd watch the tree hugger sites and see if the picture shows up. Then if it does, look for identifying factors such as license plate and if there is anything like that, talk to a lawyer and sue em till they have nothing left.

Yeah, if you didn't sign a release, they can't use that picture, under Federal Copyright laws, I believe.

I would consider it an honor to be on PETA's site!
