Primos bleat cans!
idk about yall, but ive seen these babys work miracles..i think my can is the most well spent money of any huntin call ive got..i shot a button buck this past saturday mornin, he blew at somethin about 100 yards away and we hit the can and that bad boy came balls to the wall towards us, stopped and dropped him at 60 yards with a muzzleloader, and i have a cousin who shot a nice buck last year, right after he spooked it, he hit the can and it turned around and came back towards him..
what do yall think? got any good stories with em'? |
RE: Primos bleat cans!
i used mine on saturday morning and turned two year and a half year old bucks in their tracks.
too bad they werent bigger than a five and a six pointer. |
RE: Primos bleat cans!
Bought one when it first came out. I use it almost every time i hunt. I have YET to find anything good about it. It hasnt worked one bit yet.

RE: Primos bleat cans!
i second that.. ive never had a reaction to it in 3 years..
|
RE: Primos bleat cans!
ive had a few bambies turn their heads thats about it. i have far better luck with a standard reed grunter

RE: Primos bleat cans!
Works to draw fawns in for me. Other than that it just turns the bucks heads and they continue on the path they were going to begin with..

RE: Primos bleat cans!
Carried one for two years after they first came out, never got a single positive response.

RE: Primos bleat cans!
I actually called in a little 5 pointer last year with it.After I hit it a few times, I heard something walk right up to my stand (behind my back). When I turned around, I had this five pointer not 10 yards from me staring up right at me. Apparently he was looking for love or something........

RE: Primos bleat cans!
It's interesting the differences in the responses to the can. I've seen that if a 1 1/2 year old buck is anywhere in the area, it usually comes running in as mentioned. I figure their momma's run them off and they are hoping it is her or their first love. I have called in a few mature bucks, most were hot and heavy looking for a doe and turned to come straight to me with their heads up looking. I've also tried it when does were directly under my stand to see their reaction and they've just unalarmed looked around to see where the bleat came from and then continued eating. It must sound exactly like a deer not to spook them at that range.

RE: Primos bleat cans!
I never go out without my can. I have called in one good doe with it, but it has mostly worked on young deer. This weekend my buddy shot a big doe about a hundred yards from me. After he radioed me and said that her twins were still hanging around I hit the can a few times. Within a min. later he called me back to say that they were coming straight at me. I now have some tasty "veal" in the freezer.
On numerous occasions I've hit the can when deer were around just to see their response. Almost everytime it would cause the does and especially young deer to stay in the area and look around. I've also called back a few deer that were moving away. Whackin: I live and hunt in KY zone 1 too. Only 2.5 weeks until gun opener and deer camp! |
RE: Primos bleat cans!
Why did you shoot a button?
|
RE: Primos bleat cans!
You can't tell if its a button buck at 60 to 100 yards. I had one under my stand on Saturday and couldn't tell it was a button buck till it was 10 yds from me. When he came out he almost got shot but I didn't want to came out with a 45 pound deer over my shoulder and get laughed at.

RE: Primos bleat cans!
Pffft I killed a button two years ago. Still hearing s*#t about it. I thought it was a doe the whole time until I started to dress it out. Talk about a "crying game" moment. [:'(]I was like wtf!!! Now every time I mention hunting around my brother'n law he brings up the "dog" I killed our first hunt together.[:@]

RE: Primos bleat cans!
I used mine last yr open day of muzzle loading and had a buck grunt at me a few times but never did come out to play..
Then had a small 3 pointer walk out a week later 10 yards from me in my stand. He just stood for about a minute looking aroundfor a doe but didn't see her so kept on walking in search of love. Going to try mine again this weekend.. |
RE: Primos bleat cans!
I had great luck with the can I bought this year.
![]() ![]() Too bad it didn't do anything on all the deer I tried it on. It will help my predator hunting though! These were both in the same spot opening weekend of deer season, a day apart. |
RE: Primos bleat cans!
I called in two bucks from about 300 yards away with it. I know it sounds crazy but it was a very still morning and they were across a field and I hit that can about 3-4 times. They looked right up at me and made thier way to about 30 yards and then came into the woods and came in behind me. Does it work everytime...no but it worked once and sometimes once is all you need.

RE: Primos bleat cans!
A button buck is easily identified if it is alone. Small deer with short faces by themselves are usually young males. A young doe will find other does to follow. A young male that tries that would be run off. Compared to a two year old or older deer its head with be short. Think of the difference between a cow and a calf. The cow has a longer head.

RE: Primos bleat cans!
Thumbs down for me. I have had the thing for 3 seasons and had zero success with it. The guy I hunt with swears by the thing. I have often wondered if there is a quality control issue. My grunt tube on the other hand works quite well.

RE: Primos bleat cans!
