shotgun! we arnt allowed to hunt deer in illinois with a rifle! i had a hand me down bow but the string broke when i pulled it back for my third practice shot, and broke one cam when the string snaped. they said i would be better off buying a new one than trying to repair this one! and since i have no money at this time (college) i cant afford one. hoping i can get one real soon for an early something present!

Bow hunting all the way. I can't wait to get my long bow but till then its compound for me. I could care less about killin things with the rifle. Live for the challenge. WCL

I prefer a rifle or a muzzle loader. Then it would be shotgun then compound bow.

I didn't see a black-powder rifle in the poll... Personally, I typically hunt my entire season with my .50 Cal... but I am quickly learning to love my xbow, too... I haven't had my 7mm out of the case in 3 years!

Being from Illinois and not a bow hunter I choose the shotgun. I do have a new muzzleloader to use this year though and plan on hunting with it. This will be my first time muzzleloading.

it mightbe that it is to old to repair but remeber thepro shops are there to sell bow not cams ad string. they might just be telling you that

i owned a jetski repair shop a few years ago

and i had hundreds of people who come to me with boat that the dealer told them was unrepairable andit would be cheaper to by a new one .
i neverhad one i could not fix alot cheaper then buyinga new one.

and ps i would buy the old boats off the dealer for 250 to 500 dollars that the people just bought a new one and the dealer gave them 300 bucks for the boat they could have sold on ebay for alot moe even broke

get it checked out and make sure itis not worth fixing have a friendthat knowsbows check it

I choose rifle for now.. My time hunting is limited so, I take advantage of the Big Bang Theory..

I've used them all with the exception of the crossbow.

I picked recurve though. I started with a used Fred Bear recurve in high school (way back.....) and will never forget those first few hunts that cemented the pure love of deer hunting as a kid. I've been doing it for over 35 years now. Each year is a new rush!
