RE: Ticks
The Army treats our ACU's with a chemical called amylopectin, (not a repellant) then with permethrin (the repellant) which creates a synergisticbond that allows 35 wash effectiveness. You can buypermethrin soak kits on the civilian market that last for 8 washes or 6 weeks. Google Permethrin soak or check out this link. Its cheap, completely odorless, and extremely effective.

RE: Ticks
I agree with the use of Permanone... Spray it on clothing, the tops of your boots, belt, top-side of your hat, etc. Then let it dry. There's almost ZERO smell after it dries. I use it down here in GA where the ticks are almost as big as Texas and I've had at most one or two on me (total) in years. You DO NOT want to apply it to your skin or the inside of clothing though, as it is a known carcinogen (cancer antagonist) after prolonged contact.

RE: Ticks
Premethrin never worked for us when I was deployed for some reason. But it may work for you, so that coupled with tucking in all your clothes as best you can.
Good Luck! |
