What would you pay for hunting private ground?
What would you be willing to pay per dayfor to hunt private ground with meals and lodging provided? For this poll, let's say an out of state tag is $100 (some states are cheaper others like Iowa are a lot more expensive).

RE: What would you pay for hunting private ground?
Depends on the game. I wouldn't pay $500/ dayfor hog. Of course I am cheap. But the last bear hunt I went on I worked running baits and helping out and I would rather do that than just hunt. I had as much fun running bait as hunting. I had a blast.

Take away a vote from 750+. I should have read the the first post. I thought it was tlaking about a lease.
My vote is 200 no kill no pay |
RE: What would you pay for hunting private ground?
$300 - that's $200 for anadequateamount of land, adequate number of TMA-certified stands (no wooden widowmakers),trailcam evidenced adequate amount of game, decent transpostration or directions to/from thefield, clean walk-in cooler for game, polite non-drunk guides, etc...... and $100 fora clean place to stay and three rib-stickers per day. I can field dress my own game, but I'll gladly tip generously should the guide offer.

RE: What would you pay for hunting private ground?
I, like mello collins, thought you were talking about a lease. It would depend on how much land was involved, comfort of stands, meals, quality of hunting, type of hunting, etc.

RE: What would you pay for hunting private ground?
It really depends on the land and the outfit. Like others have said there are points to be considered, quality and volume of the game, how the land is parceled out, I.E. food plots, senderos, etc., number of hunters and on and on and on. All things being equal I would be just as happy sleeping in a tent and eating around the fire. I don't think I would go more than $ 250-300 per day and it had better be more than just sit here in this stand here and I'll go fill up the feeder.

I wouldn't be interested at any price.

i wouldn't go on a pay hunt. when you pay to hunt, as in using an outfitter or hunting a deer ranch/farm, it's not hunting to me.

RE: What would you pay for hunting private ground?
Paying to hunt does not always mean you are using an outfitter or a ranch / farm. I found a service in SD called UGUIDE. The guy who runs it owns a big property in SD, and has made deals with other property owners in SD. These are just farmers with good location for some differnt game. You pay for rights to their land (upto several thousand acres, no fence land) and get use of a bunkhouse with a small kitchenette for the week. You guide yourself. They don't bait it for you or anything. Just provide you EXCLUSIVE access to a big piece of land, anda place to sleepfor a price. Less pressure and less hunters to compete with.
Check out uguidepheasants.com. I know, it says pheasant, and this is a deer forum. Go look though the differnt properties. A couple of them offer deer hunting too. This is just to show that all pay hunts, are not canned hunts, or high fence hunts. |
RE: What would you pay for hunting private ground?
I'd pay to hunt something other then deer (elk, bear, etc....) since don't have that option here, but deer hunting I'm happy with the properties I have access to for free through friends & family for whitetail.
