Default Replace Iron Sights on 870

Hey All,

I am looking to replace the rifle sights on my 870 as they are pretty dull in low light...anyone done this?

How do you get the front sight out?

Also I looked at the Tru Glo ones but I have heard that they are not very durable....has anyone found a nice set of rifle sights (aftermarket) that have served great?

Thansk

You can dab on some of that glow paint....works for me, you might have to do it every year though.

If its the ramp style front sight its actually 2 pieces. If you look at it youll see. You have to push the actual sight part off the ramp either to the left or right by tapping it with something. The screw to remove the whole sightis underneath that.

I put a dab of white paint on my front sight...works fine. If you go buggering around with it you are likely to damage the bbl. Ask a gunsmith or get a scope. I hate hacked up guns and their value goes WAY down when they have suffered do it yourself gunsmith work.

I would go with fiber optic sites like a tru-glo. I tried to paint my iron sites, did not work for me, especially in low light. Fiber optic sites are less durable than iron sites, need to keep that in mind when bashing through the brush in the dark on the way to your stand.

I use Tru-Glo sights on my 870 and love them! Durability has never been an issue with them

If I recall correctly the 870 has a screw in front sights, and the 870 express has pressure fit front sight.I think thats what I was told. I put a tru glo on my 870sp mag with no problems. One nice thing to do is to put a drop of super glue on the end farthest from the screw, preventing any sliding of the sight.
