Me and my nephew were fishing at a lake, and I walked up the dam and ran onto a yellowjackets nest. So we started throwing rocks (big rocks) to see how many we could get swarming.. there was about 10000 flying around lol.. anyways We decided not to go back that way. While we were walking down the dam on the other side, we smelled a dead animal, so we investigated... And then we found it, mostly rotted, and still stinking badly... My nephew twisted its head off and I told him he could have it if he carried it back. and he did lol.. Ill get pictures later....

PS we didnt get stung.

Wow that really sucks, im glade our animals dont have EHD, have very few cases of CWD on the Alberta/Saskatchewan boarder and thats its, so far the F&W has been doin a good job at containing it, there have been lots of cull hunts out there. And usually when i smell i dead animal out hunting i dont go towards it i move away, cause its more then likely been killed by something that wouldnt mind having me for dessert.:D

Ive found maybe 20 dead deer so far. Ididnt believe it when I first heard about people finding like 10 or more, but now IM finding them too! It really sucks that theyre dropping like flies. At least they can still be enjoyed by saving the antlers. Im planning on walking up a creek where I hunt tomorrow. Hopefully I dont find anything dead. But who knows.

I would call it velvet lol... But if youre asking if the disease is present on the head, then I would have to say I doubt it. Ive been in touch with the Indiana DNR officials in Indianapolis, and they told me that the disease cannot live out of the host, and that it dies in a carcass thats more than a few days old. This buck looks like its been dead for maybe 3 weeks or more, so I dont think its still on the deer. Its not dangerous to humans anyways. But I wouldnt eat a diseased deer.

Defenitely a cool find but hopefully you dont find anymore like that unless you have your bow in hand and they are walking around.
