Deer Patterns

I live in Connecticut where we don't allow baiting. I have my own 12 acres and live on it. The season is over and I will go to near where I hunt and put out some bushels of acorns and corn. I hunt in the end of a funnel where deer have no need to go. I believe the deer eating for the next few months here sets a patttern in there brain to come to the same area next season to look for food. I think they wander to places where the grub was good in the past even if they don't find any food there for long periods of time.

Any of you old salts have any thoughts on my theory?

If nothing else it gets me out in the cold.

RE: Deer Patterns

The wildest feeding story I ever heard involved this guy who every day for 3 months he would bath himself in real cheap aftershave, and carry in a bushel of apples to the same spot and dump it. He stopped doing this about 2 weeks before season because it was illegal to feed/bait deer for that long before hunting season opened. Opening day the guy bathes in the same cheap aftershave, walks to the spot he had been dumping the apples preseason and the deer had learned when they smelled the aftershave apples were being deleivered, he got a nice buck within 15 minutes of sitting down. I do not know if this is true or not, but it makes sense.

I would start what you are talking about before season, not now.
