New to Bow hunting need some pointers

I am new to bow hunting just bought a miller orion bow. i have no idea on how to go about sighting my bow. and also i am having a huge problem with my string hitting my forearm despite the guard. Need serious help. Thinking about trying to make a hunt this weekend. but need some pointers first. Anything will help. Been duck and hog hunting but never deer

Bend your lead arm down and slightly out. It will help with your shooting by stabilizing your bow when at full draw as well as reduce how much your arm gets slapped by the string.

If you are that new to bowhunting and don't even know how to sight the bow in you may want to rethink hunting with it any time soon. It takes a while to become proficient with a bow. We owe it to the animals we hunt to be capable of making a killing shot. Take the bow to a proshop and get it set up for you properly. then take a couple of months practicing to become a decent shot. Also, visit the bowhunting forum, there is a wealth of info there.

Your best bet is to check out your local archery shop. Ask the owner to help you get set up. He may have to adjust your draw length in order to stop the string slap. It's the best half hour youcan spend. He'll probably fill you with great tips for hunting and shooting accurately.
