how far do you guys walk off the main trail in a state park or wherever. I dont think I am getting far enough in the woods and see how far others go in before i move my operation. does i gues can pretty much be killed 'anywhere', but bucks seeem to be much more reclusive. thanks

I personally on an *average* just go 1/4 or 1/2 mile to where I am going to hunt.

It depends a lot on the property and the level of pressure it gets. For hard hunted land grab a deer cart and go in farther than anyone else nice and early. Pattern where the deer will try to escape and be there first. Lightly hunted land gives you some breathing room, stick to food and water sources. The thicker the cover the more likely that deer will be in it, use a topo map or aerial photos to find the back doors.
