Deer hunting with pistol

RE: Deer hunting with pistol
I suggest you check your DNR regs. There may be limitations on what is legal in your state. Here in MD the minimum is a .44 Mag with at least a six inch bbl. I use my S&W Mdl 29 which works just fine. If I was going to use a handgun as my primary deer weapon I would probably look at a TC Contender or Encore. They come in many suitable calibers and are easily scoped. Good luck with your shopping.

I would go with a 41 Mag or larger. A 357 will kill a deer, but IMHO is a little small. I use a 41 Mag Ruger Redhawk. The Ruger Redhawk or Blackhawk are both good pistols, as well as the S&Ws.

RE: Deer hunting with pistol
Asked this same question a few months back. Was set on buying a 357 since many said the 44 mag had a bit too much recoil. Well, I shot one, Ruger 44 with 7 3/4 barrel and it was a peice of cake to handle.
However, end up buying a 9 mm at a GREAT price. Not to deer hunt with though, just trespassers. LOL.
