hunting with a outfitter
Not sure if this belongs here but here it is .
I am now in my fourth year hunting and have not got a deer. Partly because my first year i had just moved to ky then my second i moved twice and my third i moved to nc. Now i am back in indiana for good.
But i am also in the posistion of have ing the money to do a guided hunt at a outfitter. Should i find one here in indiana or go somewhere were the deer are bigger. Also what outfitters would you all recommend and is there a chance i can get one this season

RE: hunting with a outfitter
Depends on what your goals are. Do you want to learn about hunting etc or do you just want to kill a deer?
There are lots of places you can go to just killa monster deer and be done with it, but if you want to experience the outdoors etc that probably isnt the best kind of place for you.

Bigtime whatever you do be sure to do your homework when it comes to selecting an Outfitter .... as there is in all professions there are good ones and bad ones ... be sure to ask for references of hunters who were sucessful and those who unsucessful then make sure you call and talk to them ...find out what they liked and didnt like .... as for a BIG deer I am partial to hunting Alberta or Saskatchewan and its BEAUTIFUL country ....good luck to you.

Big you can but it is a hassle going through Customs ... as hard as it might be to do I suggest you leave the meat (most bucks dont tatse to good anyway specally during the rut) and I would also leave the rack with a creditable taxi (just take PLEANTY of pictures)...he can do a GREAT job and then have it shipped to you ...if you try to walk it through the airport Customs will stop you ..take it out of the container to inspect it ...takes a lot of time and you have to be at the airport around 5.30 am ...stand in a long line of hunters departing...most flights leave on Sunday morning between 8 and 11 .... if your on an early flight it makes it tuff to get cleared in Customs with the meat ...rifle and rack in time to catch your flight ..then it might come up missing during transit ...I used Gary Dobson in Alberta to mount mine ....it will take about 12 months to get it back and I know its tuff to wait that long but believe me its the best way to do it ...this is my mount ...will cost you about $750.00 with the shipping ..
