New cam pics...poaching attempt?

These are from today, we picked up another at the cornpile last night. Looks like a spike, button buck and the third I can't tell. The spike appears to have a hole on it's left side, I'm wondering if this isn't an out of season poaching attempt by someone. Ideas anyone?

This is a pic of all three together. If only their parents show up for a little "Parent-Bowhunter" conference......

Just looks like a Tic or a wart to me.

Seems to me if he would have gotten shot in that spot... he wouldn't still be walking around.

thats a big ol' happy tick! Like others have stated....dont think he would be around if it was a bullet wound.

I was wondering about a tick also because I've pulledswollen ones off dogs, but I've never seen one that big. I had 68 pics on this cam yesterday and forgot to clear it after I downloaded them, so I went out today to clear it and there were 186. I made sure to clear it this time. I also plan on increasing the size of the cornpile later today to see if it draws more in, then staying out until next Saturday when bow season opens. Hopefully we get some bigger bucks and does showing up.

If that is in fact a tick it is the largest one I've ever seen. And perfectly round

I would agree on the Monster Tick side of the house. Nice to see you got some deer on your corn pile though.

Nope, not a poaching attempt.

It looks like the wartz my dad found on a doe he shot a few years ago.

Yep. It's a non-typical, too. Look at them drop-tines.

RE: New cam pics...poaching attempt?

I'm pretty sure it's not a tick, I have pictures of a few different deer and another one that I shot and it's some kind of growth or tumor or something like that, but probably not a tick

RE: New cam pics...poaching attempt?

I didn't even think to check out what it was after I got him. I was too occupied to look at it because it was my first deer and I'd killed him with a bow. I looked at it once and it appeared to be some kind of fluid filled tumor type thing. Didn't affect the meat, didn't bother me. If there'd been a large amount all over him I might have changed my mind.

dont ticks usualy get tan color when they get big and that seems alittle big to be a tick

could be a shot that did not hit anything but flesh

one of the biggest ticks i've ever seen

Beezer 09-30-2007 06:58 PM

RE: New cam pics...poaching attempt?

It wasn't a tick, it was a little bigger than a dime. Like I said, I didn't investigate it, I only got a quick look at it when I was moving him from the four wheeler to the truck bed. It wasn't a tick though.
