Finding Deer on New property

What is the best way to locate the deer on a new piece of land? I am new to hunting altogether not to mention the land.

Spend a lot of time on that land. Do some scouting year-round. Deer change movement patterns with changes in food sources, cover availablility, etc. Put up some trail cameras. Get to know the property intimately. There is no substitute for spending time in the woods.

Walk the land and look for scat. Sure sign that deer are there.

Get the best aerial photos (Google Earth has some good ones in most parts of the country) and get a topo map of the area. Locate the roads, fields, croplands that are in the area, streams and any other feature you can find. Spend as much time as you can looking for old scrapes, trails and other deer sign and see if you can figure out the travel routes and where the deer are going to and for what reason. Set up stands or pick out locations for stands and act like a bird in a tree waiting for a deer.
