Deer change their patterns through out the year often, this is more than likely why your not seeing them in the summer..(there on a different pattern than the obvious, more than likely where the food is).. They'll move depending on food sources, water sources, human intrusion, ..ETC. As long as you see them in the fall then your ok..Your peice of property maybe mostly a travel corridor... you can scout in late winter and spring when fall sign is still present for your fall setups.(recommended). During the rut theres no telling where the bucks will be, though if you have does around your usually golden.....

I agree with crafty101. Deer movement in the summer does not indicate deer sitings in the fall will match up. What I notice is that the alfalfa is the source of protein in the summer and when fall comes, the corn becomes the big energy source. The big boys hang in the corn until the rut or until they are pushed out by the combines.

Everything in the whitetails world changes in the fall.

Bucks lose their velvet.

Food sources change.

Apples begin to fall.

Acorns begin to fall.

New food sources are available

Farmers begin to cut their corn.

The early twinges of the rut start to creep in.

Patterns change accordingly.
