Mock Scrapes?

I was just wondering how many people have tryed using a mockscrape to help bring in bucks. I have been reading alot about scrapes lately and I have been wanting to try one out this season to try and bring in a couple big bucks that are always out of range.

I always use mock scrapes every year. They definetly attract deer. Give it a shot.

I've used mock scrapes for years and for the most part with good success. I use the rattling antlers, I carry with me,to make the scrapes. When you are making the scrape, make sure there is a licking brack that crosses over the scrape. I will also put some buck scent on that branch.

Ive tried making mock scrapes for several years, but the ones I make dont seem to get much use, there are always lots of scrapes where I hunt, so Ive had better luck freshening up scrapes that are already there. I guess I just have bad luck with it, I always use extreme scent control, and use a branch or something to clear it out, but they just dont seem to hit mine much.

When you make a scrape do you put any special scents on the branch or will the scrape scent work?

You'll think I am joking but I'm not.

If you can get deer poop from a different area and put it in a baggie, then put it around your stand or mock scrape, the deer will really be interested in the new deer. Just like a dog does when it investigates where another dog did its business.

No joke!

use scents like buck urine on the scrape

I just made 7 mock scrapes 2 days ago, I put ACTIVE SCRAPE scent on all scrapes and the tree branch above. When I checked today there was no scrapes made by the deer but there were many nose prints. Hopefully as the rut gets closer a buck will take a liking to them. There are no new scrapes or rubs that I have seen for this year, so I am not expecting any activity for at least another month.

I to like to make mock scrapes, i use ben lee's buck lure. I myself think it works better than tinks , thats just the way i feel about it . But when the pre- rut realy kicks in and i see more scrapes i use ben-lee's doe. It seems like they keep coming back to check on it , but i got to tell you when a old doe catch wind of it she goe's on high alert snorting and stomping her feet makes a circle around the scrape still snorting and stomping her feet it's almost makes you what to laugh your butt off sitting up in your tree stand.
