RE: which treestand
When buying a climber my number one concern is safety. I spent the extra cash and bought one that had a reputation for safety. Summit.
It's also 6 pounds lighter than the one pictured. When money was a concern for me ..I built myself a nice ladder stand. It's been 5 years and it's still locked up in a public WMA today. I only bought a Summitt when I started archery hunting. |
RE: which treestand
A portable treestand is something you should be willing to pay more for in order to get a good one. Think about it, you're going to be in that stand for countless hours. The extra money is pennies for lighter stands to carry, and most of all, better comfort.
I've tried API and Summit, and like the Summit best. However, I haven't followed new models closely in a while, and hear Loggy Bayou has some good ones. |

RE: which treestand
I would spend more money and go for something lighter than those and look for comfort like the summits . In the long run you won't be sorry you spent more for a better stand

RE: which treestand
Definitely go with a summit, as they make the best stands BAR NONE!!!! If you decide not to go with a summit, PLEASE do not go with anything made in Wisconsin; very poorly made!!! ;)

RE: which treestand
My preference is a Tree Lounge, it is a little on the heavy side, but I hunt on private land and dont move them around much. Comfort to me is #1, most stands I cant sit in for more than 2 hours " I have some lower back issues", but I can stay pretty much all day in the Tree Lounge due to its design " just like my recliner", and I can always cat-nap without the worry of falling out!. Whatever you buy though, dont buy the ELCHEAPO, make it home safely after the hunt, also invest in a good safety vest!.

RE: which treestand
Summit Goliath if your a big un.:DThat's what I use. You might also want to give the Gorilla brand a look. They are patterned after the 'Ol Man and the 'Ol Man was a simple to set up light weight, and comfortable stand. It may be slightly cheaper than some of the other brands. Make sure that whatever choice you make it is approved by TMA.

RE: which treestand
I love my API Bowhunter. I have been using it for about 5 years. Never tried a Sumit, but I like the design and really like the latest models. I have tried some cheap Warren Sweat(I think) climbers and fixed stands that were creaky dangerous and actualy cost me deer.IMHO. I have been rock climbing for 20 years, if a stand freaks me out I think that is significant. A fall from tree stand height could kill you, as in rock climbing get the best you can find, your life depends on it. Once again, just my opinion.
