Central and Northern Wisconsin Food Plots

We have hunting property about 15 miles north of Necedah and started practicing quality deer management. With this comes the planting of food plots? Just wondering if anybody from the North Woods has any suggestions. After ph test and liming, we tried soy beans, clover, turnips and chufa, none of which really took off, maybe due to lack of rain. Does anybody have recommendations.

Lack of rain is a vast understatement.

Swiss Chard gorws great in our region, also if you can get your hands on sugar beets that woudl be most excellent. Deer love sugar beets.

I have been putting in plots for the last couple years and I really like sugar beats, clover, and canola. The deer and turkeys love the canola and it is high in protein. I would be willing to bet the rain has a lot to do with your issue. I got a potato sprayer that shoots water a long way. Its basically a water cannon. I hook it up to the garden well and it waters a lot of the plot
