'06 Buck Euro Mount

I posted this in the taxidermy forum, but thought some of you might like to see it. This is the buck I took during the '06 firearms season. I shot him at a little over 50 yds. with a T.C. Encore pistol chambered in .454 Casull.

Very nice. I see that you have another Euro mount on the back wall. Did you do the work yourself or have it done at the taxidermist? I bought a kit from Cabelas but haven't had the time to try it on my buck from last year yet..

Thanks for the compliments guys.
gutshotem-I have done five myself. The one in the pic, the one in the background, one more for myself, and two for a friend.

What do you use to clean and bleach the skull?

Big-I flesh the skull out as much as possible first. Getting as much off at that step is really a time saver later. Then I boil the skull in water mixed with a little soda ash or dish soap. While I am doing that I scrub it with a stiff bristol plastic brush. Once it is as clean as I think I can get it, I rinse it off and let it dry for a couple days. Then I soak it in the peroxide that you get at beauty salons and scrub it with a tooth brush. After it is very clean, I rinse it with cold water and let it dry for at least three days. The final step is sealing it with satin lacquer.

They look really good, and I'm sure it's probably a lot less expensive than buying the kits they sell at outdoor stores.
