Fawn

I heard that it was possible to tell the sex of a fawn by its spots, but I don't know if this is true. What have some of you all heard or know about this?

RE: Fawn

I dont know about telling the sex of a fawn by its spots because usually both doe and buck fawns have the same amount of spots. If you want to know the sex of a fawn you have to look at its head for small "buttons" or if its a little flat. Doe fawns usually have more rounded heads.

RE: Fawn

NO, this old tale has been addressed both in North American Whitetail and Quality Whitetails (QDMA) and there is NO truth to the fawn spot pattern tale. The only way to tell the fawns sex is the shape of the head, a buck will have a flatter, more level head compared to the more rounded skull of the Doe fawn.
