I'm here hunting the open hardwoods and powerlines of Luthersville in Meriweather County. I noticed more bucks than ever (mainly spikes), and during the rut all the deer left thier normall areas and went to places I hardly saw a deer at before this year. And now that it's after the rut they went back to their usuall places. I also noticed alot of does running, but there wasn't any bucks chasing them. This was an odd season all around for me. Bow season I didn't hardly see any deer at all.

I live near Dahlonega and hunt the Mountains of North Georgia, saw a lot of Bears this year and helped a neighbor with one close to 400# and a friend that took one that was 300# field dressed (Weighed in at DNR check station) saw a lot of deer early in season but haven't seen as many lately. Saw a doe crossing the road yesterday at about 0945 and lots of tracks. We need to get the doe population under better control and stop shooting the smaller/younger bucks to get a more balanced herd.

I hunt in SE Georgia, Wasn't the best season. It ended last Sunday the 12th.I only managed to take one 5 point about 120 pounds.I talked to several people and they all agreed that it was a strange season and not very plentiful.I heard a message on the radio that the DNR was disappointed in the low number of deer harvested this year.I only caught part of the message but heard something to the effect that they were considering contacting hunters for suggestions to increase the harvest.Should be interesting seeing what comes about.

I also live in SE Georgia and this is one of the worst seasons I have ever seen. I have seen where several nice deer were killed but all in all every one you talk to around here isn't seeing much game.

The only buck I seen out of the stand was a five point, I was still hunting, and a pack of hunting dogs ran it passed me and I dropped it.

I let several does go here, just waiting for a buck, but no luck.

I did go to West Virginia and shot a huge doe.

Other than that I shot 6 hogs, three with the bow and arrow.
I also let some hogs walk on by since I already killed plenty.

Maybe next year will be better.

I live in Richmond County...hunt in Richmond, Burke, Columbia, Warren, Wilkes, and McDuffie counties.

Lots of deer this year, as always more does than bucks. One thing I have noticed is that the hog and turkey populations seem to be increasing, or maybe I'm just seeing them more than in past years.

The public dove fields out my way didn't have very many birds, and what was there must have been in the early season because the late season was very sad.

Rabbits, squirrels, and Canadian geese are doing fine....I've seen lots of them. The geese always seemed to be in private fields where no hunting was allowed.

A "family" of bobcats has moved into one of my hunting areas. A buddy and I were out near the end in the deer season when, I guess, it was "whoopie time" for the cats....LMAO. My buddy told me later, as we met up and walked bach to where we were parked that he thought the cats were in the tree next to him as they were so loud.

I'm hearing rumours that the deer season "may" be extended for an entire, additional MONTH next season.....no facts yet, but it would be nice.

That's about it up my way.

Thank you to all for the input. I also saw a ton of Turkeys no Hogs though.

It seems as though there was quite a bit of logging, clear and select cutting this year as well, which may have changed the deers patterns? Also, more wind that normal this year.

I also heard that this coming season was going to be exstended a month? hope so! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I am from nw georgia, but I go to school at UWG, so I mainly hunt in the Carroll county area. I killed a couple of does, but never got a shot at a buck. Most of the Bucks went nocturnal pretty early in the season, even though there was not that much pressure on the land I hunt. As I walked out a couple of times I had Bucks Grunting and Snorting at me. One night I was grunting back and stomping as I walked out, and I thought I was going to get attacked. Anyway couple big bucks killed off our land this year, but none were mine. Hope ya'lls season was better.
