We are all guilty of it. Every year we just have to buy this or that for the upcoming deer season, right? Just can't do without it. Gotta have it. It's better. New and improved. Guaranteed.

I look at it this way. I've been killing deer consistently with the same old same old. Ido not need any additional equipment or items to continue. I actually prefer to narrow my list of things needed.

This year I will spend $0.00 except for the necessary licenses, permits and ammo.

I'm talking about equipment and apparatus here. Not gas, lodging, food. Those are necessities. I'm talking fluff here.

I had to put over $400. Yes I have the guns, shells, and alreadypaid forone of my two permits but I have to figure in gas, split the bill on some food, and a few odds and ends. I drive about 250 miles one way so I have to addabout 1000 milescounting first and second seasons. I alone with the other 6 guys that travel from various parts of the state to our friends house always chip in and each give him about $25 each per season, and thats cheap! I envy the guys that can walk out their back door and walk through the woods to their stands.

I can't vote. I always plan to buy a new firearm, bow or larger hunting related purchase such as a stand in addition to other things like some new clothing, hand warmers, bullets, powder, etc... Once I have 3 of everything or taking a dirt nap I will stop. ;):D

i want a new lone wolf climber bc its 14.5 lbs and will make my life sooooo much easier. And a new double bull matrix 360 so i can bring the girlfreind hunting with me and dont have to worry about her moving.... plus for spring turkeys.

I put $400.00 but realistically it will be prob well over $1,000.00 if I include lease fees, food plots, corn etc etc...

Let me see...1st daughter, 2 years out of Applachian State...Married in September on the Outer Banks...

2nd daughter, graduated UNC last Sunday, going to Wake Forest to get her Master's Degree, starts June 4th...

3rd daughter....Going with Mom to Switzerland on a Girl Scout trip in July, turns 16 in December, needs a car....

Nope, don't think there is any money left over for Dad, not planning on buying a thing.....

I just got a good deal on a set of fleece natgear bibs an natgear fleece jacket for$100.00, an I am going to get one more suit of camo an another Summit climbing stand.

Will be getting a new scope and thateats up a lot of money real fast for one purchase. other than that, I wouldnt spend more than 100 bux total a year for salt blocks and corn.

Why would you want to be a tight a$$ ??? I mean, atleast for me, part of the fun every season is getting ready for the deer season and trying and testing new gear. Fromfoodplots to camo.. it's fun and something I look forward to every year. Just seems likeit would be a long boring wait 'til Fall for you guys? [&:] :(

I usually spend about $150 on ammo that I might be experimenting on, maybe some new camo, not too much.

Second son is starting hunting this year and I'm more excited about buying him his first stuff than getting hunting stuff for me. My first son has out grown his first bow so it is time for another. Let's see...more camo, perhaps a new hunting parka, liners for snowpak boots, scents, another treestand, new gun safe for first 2 are full (1st son has just bought a new Browning BPS and is looking for another hunting rifle plus ML and hunting rifle for 2nd son), and this is just a start. I wish Christmas came in July!!!!

Yesterday I just bought a used Black Widow recurve for $525 and ordered a new custom longbow for $540.So far this year,I spent about $3k on bows

I love how some people on here have the nerve to say quit being a cheap a$$. I don't know about the rest of you guys but i can't afford to spend all this money on stuff i don't need, i can barely afford to buy whats neccessary like boots, camo, parka, stand, different types of ammo to try in my slug gun. Some of us out there don't have loads of money to blow on wants, we only have enough for the needs. so far i've spent about $350 on my two single shot shotguns, ammo, and cleaning kit so i will vote for $400+ only because i don't have a stand and such, this is my first year hunting.

It hasnt been such a long time ago for me,that i was in the same bucket financialy. But things come together for you sooner or later if you keep trying,just like the hunt itself.

I put $50 but what was I thinking. I just paid over 125 for my arrows and having them dipped.
Paid to have my bow string and cables changed. So cancel my $50 please. Its still only spring wait
till fall gets here and I get the itch to buy something.

Since I have a lifetime license, and more than enough gear, I don't have to spend anything but time and gas to hunt anymore unless I need ammo. Come to think of it, I have plenty of that too. :)

This thread wasn't actually directed at people who are to poor to afford gear but instead it was directed at getting caught up in all the "fluff" and needing tobuy all the latest and greatest gear. We fully relaize that many folks can't afford to play and have to fight to make ends meet. Good luck with that? [&o]

I put up to $400, but really it will probably be more than that, as I need a new scope for my new rifle, and some new camo and cold weather gear, and some new boots, some new binoculars, and who knows what else...
