Frizz, I bet I am the only person on here besides you that knows where Fred is. That is if it is the Fred in Southeast Texas near Warren. I am from the Longview area. I love South Texas though. Texas really is like a whole other country with so much variety in different parts of the state.

He lives in Warren but went to school in Chester because his dad coached there. He graduated in 1988. We played baseball in college together and have been friends ever since. Sometimes, I think he loves to hunt and fish more than I do. Of course he is not married yet so he has more time to go. Smartest guy I know. Just kidding...kind of. |

RE: Who here is from Texas?
Who, I taught and coached at Knox City, O'brien for 8 years. I now teach science at Rule Highschool, just a few more miles south of O'Brien. You have driven by my old house many times, if you were headed to Obrien down highway 6. Whos land do you hunt in Obrien, I probably know them. My wife is from Knox City so she knows everyone.

RE: Who here is from Texas?
Kent,
Just as you get into O'brian there is a church and a old gas station. I turn west there and go all the way out to the last house on the left, just before the road T's. The one brothers name is Ron Hughes but I dont remember the others name The other place was just back towards town and a man and his wife lived there. I think he passed away 2 years ago. He had hunted hogs in this area most of his life and made some great sausage there at his house. I think his name was Johnson? but not sure. RE: Who here is from Texas?
about the only thing to hunt in Lubbock is jackrabbits and prarie dogs..... but if you are willing to drive 45 miles or so, then you start getting into hog country...70 miles or so and you start getting into some pretty good deer hunting. There's pretty good pheasant hunting about 50 or 60miles north of Lubbock, and good to great quail and dove hunting all around. During the winter, there's also about a million canada geese that cover the playa lakes in town.

RE: Who here is from Texas?
Hi guys! I've been away from the board a couple of months but, I'm back!!!!!!
I live in Port Neches, was born and raised in Port Acres Texas! We are on the Gulf Coast, with great fishing and the hunting isn't too bad either! Frizz, I have hunted around Fred years ago. My nephew is hunting on a club near Fred now and the hunting has improved over the years! Also, my wife's dad live in Bossier, he retired from the Air Force and stayed there. He doesn't hunt, but he says there is good hunting in that area! Hey WT, have you ever heard of a place called Caney Head? I bet Frizz has!!! Happy hunting and merry Christmas yall! |
RE: Who here is from Texas?
From Houston, hunt in south Texas (near Freer).
Kevin, I always hunt opening weekend near Kempner. Maybe some day I will give you a call to see if your dogs would like to find a deer for us. We always need tracking dogs in south Texas, too. We see and hear about a lot of wounded deer. Are any of your dog owners in the south Texas area? Most of the tracking dogs I see down there are Plott hounds, etc. |
RE: Who here is from Texas?
hornetguy,
Man your out of touch, We have great squirel and cottontail hunting also.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Pheasant hunting is better. I hunt a very nice place just about 15 min. outside lubbock and its free. If I really want to do some good pheasant hunting I go to Kansas and visit family. Hogs are just off the cap which is about 30 min. Deer 45 to an hr. Fishing at Allen Henry is picking up but getting crowded.
