climbing stand hunting

There is nothing better than hunting out of a climbing stand over a cutover that is new or 4-5 years old. U can find a tree and get up 30 -4- feet and see forever. You will see deer that you would not see from a regular stand or a box stand.

You just described my plan for Rifle opener come this next fall.

I'm a believer in climbing stands. They are my prefered method of hunting.I believe ifI scout properly and place my stand in the right place as a result of scouting then my odds will go way up.

Have to agree with you, took my first buck with my 12 gauge out of my new climber last season. Once my neighbor let me borrow his one day during last archery and I had great luck with it, I ran out and bought one for myself. I love getting up nice and high in the tree (great visibility) and if you get up high enough the deer never have a clue you are there. I also have a fixed stand I hunt and hate going up to it anymore as it seems so small, unlike the climber that has a nice big platform and the upper railing to give you a little more sense of security even when you are up 15 feet higher then with the fixed stand.

Ditto. I would only do that during gun season. Bow season, I want to stand that is close to a known trail/crossing but if fairly wooded.
