According to your earlier posts, you already have a 45-70 and a 270, and for thickets, the 45-70 should be fine. For 100+ yard shots, the 270 should do the trick. If you want a magnum caliber, knock yourself out, but you are pretty well covered with 45-70 and 270.

I'd go with a 270 or 7 mag. 30-06 would be good too.

If you already have a .270 you already have a great rifle. If you don't have a quality scope on it then that is where I would put my money.

Either one would work but my choice would be the 7 mm Rem. Mag if that’s what you’re referring to...

Excellent advice! With a 45-70 and 270 in his aresenal, optics would definitely be a better way to spend some extra funds. How about a Zeiss Conquest?

I agree, .270 is all you need. Spend money on scope.

30/06 would work just fine

I say get a Leupold 4x12x50, they have a great one which has the bottom of the lens curved so that you get the scope closer to the barrel, which results in better accuracy, and you still get the perks of a 50mm objective lens.

I think the .270 should be fine, but a 7mm Remington Magnum would fit the bill for higher velocity and trajectory performance.
