Indiana Rifle Season?
I have recently heard through a rumor that Indiana could have a rifleseason within the next five years. Has anyone else heard of this and do you think it is a good idea. I don't think it is at least not right now anyway.

I think it would be great, driving to Indianappolis, I saw lots of open corn fields, and it was plenty of room to shoot a rifle, IMO.

RE: Indiana Rifle Season?
don't count on it happing. they won't pass a handgun cartrige in a rifle so why a full blown rifle?

I hope that is does not happen. We finally getting big bucks in my area from the one buck rule. Everybody that I know around hereare being patient and letting little deer go by. Where I hunt from your farthest shot is only 100 yardsat the max. There is no need for a high powered rifle.

RE: Indiana Rifle Season?
The calibers being considered for PCR are already legal in pistols, as are many that were not considered for PCR due to their higher velocities. The rifles/cartridges under consideration are all also low velocity, similar in range to currently allowed slug guns and muzzleloaders, not cannons like some would have you believe. You're unlikely to even see a "cowboy gun" once the rule gets approved unless you're the one carrying it.

RE: Indiana Rifle Season?
in my opinion it should be legal. i hunt with a sigle shot .308 pistol. thats legal and alot more power than a hhandgun cartridge.

RE: Indiana Rifle Season?
i would rather it not. dont get me wrong..i have nothing against huntign with a rifle. i've killed several animals with a rifle. i just dont think there is any reason to have it..

RE: Indiana Rifle Season?
There is nothing wrong with having these PCRs allowed. It may even get a few hunters out there who would otherwise not be out there. If the cartridges are already allowed for the handguns, why not put them in a long gun and have at it. It is just going to allow more opportunity for other hunters to get out there in the woods and do what we all love to do.
Like Kevin1 said I don't think you will really see too many of these weapons out in the woods anyways. |

That cleared a lot up for me. I'm curious as to why the 460 S&W wasn't mentioned. I guess we'll have to wait until May 22 to see! |
RE: Indiana Rifle Season?
I just looked up the 460 S&W and it's case length is to long.
The article says no case length over 1.625" and the 460 is 1.8" I guess that's why it wasn't mentioned! |
RE: Indiana Rifle Season?
Wonder how many people are already testing 38/500 loads?

What would a 500 S&W be if it were necked down to a 357 and a maximum case length of 1.6?
