RE: How would you score this buck?
Brow tines are counted as points
It's the operator that messes up....not the equipment.Have confidence in yourself and shoot straight. |
RE: How would you score this buck?
If the tine is broken off but there is still some left, I'd say it's a point. I got an 8-point with a broken tine in 2000. It was broken about half-way up so there was still about 4 inches left. I'd say that's enough for a point.

It is considered a point if it is one inch long or longer.

RE: How would you score this buck?
In Va. we always count anything you can hang a ring from a point, but many states are different in their definition of a "point". My understanding is as long as the browtine meets the definition of a point it is a point.

A brow tine is certainly counted as a point. as far as the broken tine as long as it meets the criteria to be a point than it would still be counted as a point.

RE: How would you score this buck?
Only with mule deer are brow tines not consitered a "point".
With all other deer, B&C and P&Y say if it is an inch it is a point. It is up to the individual hunter to decide for him or her self what is a trophy or for that matter, a point. But if you want it scored, you have to go by thier rules Personaly, I go with the ring thing. "Hey ya'll, watch this" |
RE: How would you score this buck?
I'd call a broken tine a point anyday
