RE: Favorite types of trees for treestands?
I like big old oaks or maples for my loc-on , I look for a tree that has alot of limbs to help break - up my outline.
As you can see in the picture , it does a good job.

I LOVE pine trees for some reason. I think its because when its raining/snowing you dont get as wet, for the scent, and also it hides you alot better. But i guess i'll go in whatever tree i can if i have a good spot i want to hunt.

I alsooccasionally findsome pines to get in as deer seem to like staying there because it blocks alot of wind, snow, and its quiet later in the season, usually has to be a lock on. What trees do you guys look for climbers and to hang lock on stands in?

i use to like palm trees untill i found out coral snakes like them too (the hard way). i mostly climb pine tree's. here in Florida, there aren't too many oaks or other trees to climb. all our oaks seem to be too wide (diameter), i can't recall ever seeing a skinny enough one for a climber that was straight. not saying there ain't any, just few and far between here. most common tree's here for climbing are the long and short needle pine's.
