Aging Deer by Field Dressed Weight Article...

This is for North Texas whitetail deer, butthis process wouldbe a lot easier than by looking at the lower teeth. I do wonder how accurate this is though? Can anyone else find data on other states or areas?

My guess.. not very. This would mean all deer of a certain age weigh a certain poundage. Its just not realistic. Just like humans, some deer are bigger while younger and some deer are older and skinny.

The numbers are on averages so it does take into account that not every deer weighs the same and these numbers are for only north texas not somewhere in wisconsin where their numbers would be much different

Then again, some test have shown that the wearing of the teeth is not real accurate. Cross sections of a tooth under a microscope is accurate.
