RE: Tree Stand Height
I never go more than 15 feet up. No reason too. Keep the wind in your face. The higher you are the furthur it is too the ground when you fall.
As long as you have some cover in your tree I don't believe you need to be too high.

Ya get up there too high, the branches from all the other trees out there block a good portion of your view. 20 feet up feels just about right. Depends on your area and tree types. Minimum is usually 10 feet average, like a short ladder stand.

I got up until sometime the tree is leaning. I never get busted by deer ever. Killed many deer doing this. I of course strap to the tree. But I usually adjust my stand 2-3 times going up. It great that high up. Deer look like rats on the ground.

I'm with you huntingbgbucks. I go as high as I can depending on the branches in the surrounding trees. One place I hunt is a clear cut. I hunt in a pine tree about 50 feet high and never get busted.

RE: Tree Stand Height
Hey Cord, just 2 weeks ago I slept for about an hour 50 feet up in that tree. I hunt a Bigshot climber and I'm not saying you couldn't fall out but it would be nearly impossible to fall out of that stand. I think anybody that's ever hunted out of a Bigshot would probably say the same. All but one of the guys I hunt with say I'm crazy for going that high. I have been in some lock-ons before at 20 feet and was scared to death. I just don't feel comfortable in those.
