trigger

Now that rifle season is about over I am going to carry my old Rem. 700 to the gunsmith and have the trigger adjusted to a smother/lighter pounds of pull. Would about 2 1/2 pounds be a good setting for hunting purposes?

It really depends on what you are used to. If your rifle has a 7lb trigger now, going to 2lbs could be a disaster waiting to happen. If it were me, I would lighten it up 50%, to start, and see how I liked that. After shooting the new weight for a while you can have it lightened more if you want.
Good luck.

I am by no means an expert in guns, let alone triggers, and I am a new hunter/shooter myself, but that seems to be a popular range for hunting rifles. (2-2 1/2 lbs)

I like 3# areafor big game hunting rifles. One reason is gloves are often worn during hunting season here.

If your use to a certain trigger pull on your other riflesdo the samewith the m700 your taking to the smith. If not then I agreeabout notgoing to the extreme side, 3.5# would be just fine andnoticable difference in performance/feel.
