Thats exactly what I was thinking, a deer of that caliber would be awfully hard to keep under raps.... with no pics anywhwere. I e-mailed the author of the arcticle, to see if there was any kind of follow up. He never responded.....

Since when does Illinois have the title of the Top Destination for Trophy Whitetails?
Growing up in Ohio and now living in Iowa, I know at least 2 states from personal experience that would have issues with that claim!

A good friend of mine has done some work with T.N.T. (the company that did the reproductions for those antlers.) I haven't been able to get my hands on that particular set but I've seen some amazing ones that they've done inpast.

Lady Forge, thanks for the info, I will be at the Classic this Sat. if the buck in question is there, I will have pics up Saturday evening. That's if there's any truth to this monster!

I would almost bet mySwitchback with all acess. included, that this is just "Another" story, the one in which shows up almost every year here in IL.

I have come to a conclusion, there never was a 290" buck killed in Vermillion county this year! Just came back from the Illinois Deer & Turkey Classic and nobody seems to have heard anymore about it,,,, probably some stupid rumor!!!!! it definately wasn't brought to the Classic!!!
