PEAKRUT, in outdoorlife does it give the actual stats as opposed to just numbers. What I mean is, #of hunters to, # of Pope and Young or Boone and Crocket Bucks taken in each state. As far as I know doesn't Wisconsin post some of the highest numbers of hunters? What are the sucess rates of these states (odds).

What I mean is, numbers can be misleading. The famous Pike county Illinois, sure it puts out the highest # of deer harvested each year (in Illinois), but how many of those are actually bucks over 140". Pike county is one of the largest counties in Illinois, and boasts one of the highest # of hunters per square mile, also. So, sure its going to have some big bucks taken, but not that many, for the amount of people whom hunt in that county. I should know, I hunted there for 12 years (8 years ago) and it would be one of the last counties I would choose to hunt in Illinois (due to hunting pressure).

If you go tohttp://www.awesomeantlers.comyou'll see that Ohio (this past year), has truely put out some monsters. I don't know how many people hunt in Ohio but I'm certain it's going to be at least 1/2 or more than that, less than Wisconsin.

P.S. PEAKRUT, thanks again for the informative sites.

Peakrut, Let me know what you come up with, I'm curious. There was an article similar to our discussion last year in Deer and Deer Hunting Mag. I'll do some research myself, so I can up with exact figures.... Thanks again, for all your useful info, hope this helps other diehards!!!!!!!!!!!

After reading the article numerous timessince publication no matteralmost where you hunt it is difficult to get a trophy. Yes private does help a tiny bit but still difficult. I somehow became one of the lucky ones and hit the lottery this past Nov.

PEAK, by those figures that you have come up with, the states which you have the best chance to score a book buck are as follows:

1. Kansas
2. Illinois
3. Iowa
4. Wisconsin
5. Indiana
6. Minnesota
7. Ohio

Note, that a persons odds go up or down when they hunt a particular portion of the state. Lower portions of Wisconsin and Minnesota provide the majority of book buck enteries, so stats change with particular areas.

P.S.A lot ofout of state hunters should take in consideration the info. that you had posted when booking there next trip. Again, thanks for the valuable info, it should help a lot of people.

P.S.#2. I guess Dischuett can't argue with any of those #'s.

I honestly don't see how 3 or more certified scorers could come up with the same numbers on a non-typical rack. I don't see how one personcould come up with a good conscious number on some of them. Is there a tape anywhere showing the scoring process of a big non-typical rack?
TC I have to agree with you ..when my NT was scored by 4 different pannels the scores verried over 5 inchs ....from 181 to 186 1/2 ...
