Frozen Deer?

How many days below 20 degrees F can Deer take before they start to freeze?

Live deer will not freeze in those temps.
Dead deer will take a couple of days.

If your worried about winter kill < 20f is no big deal to deer. Up here we are seeing highs of -20F if you include windchill. Lots of snow is a bigger problem than low temps.

It can normaly be at that temp and freeze within 2-3 days if not less... Are you saving it for a taxidermist or something?

deer live in -40 celsius temps up here... no problem.... if there dead.... think of it as just a big freezer... how long before the core temp drops and you have a block of meat popsicle:D

I know enough from experience that if not gutted the insides will be all green and no where near to start freezing after two days at that tempurature. By the time it has froze, it is way too late to do anyting with that animal.

We're from Manitoba where we just got through a month of the warmest being -30. We always dress the deer in the field and hang and skin them in the garage when we get home. It's either minus temp. or below from the end of Oct on. We harvest 3-4 a year and they hang until we need a roast etc. then Mr. Sawzol goes to work. Sometimes we feel like theClampets. By the way we also use a pool table as our dining roomtable (just add a cover).
