Bullet Expansion?

What are a few bullets that will have MINIMUM expansion on whitetail sized game using a 300 WSM?

best bet would be a bonded LARGE game bullet in the heaviest weight you can find. should stick together nicely for you...

The Barnes TXS do don't expand all that much. I assume you want to minimize meat damage? If you reload, slow it down and use the 165-180 TXS.

Barnes TSX, Swift Aframes, Speers Trophy Bonded (TBBC), Nosler Partition, etc.

180grstandard bullet should help as well, slow things down and higher SD.

What about those Winchester AccuBonds or Ballistic silvertips? 180 or 150?

RE: Bullet Expansion?

They are actually made by Nosler. The accubond is a controlled expansion bullet designed to give the ballistic performance of the ballistic tip with the weight retention of the partition, the ballistic silvertip is the ballitstic tip with a lubalox coating and a different color polymer tip. Neither are what your post asks for. Howeverfor deer size game either will give excellent performance as will any standard construction bullet. I suggest you buy several different brands of ammo and bullet weights and see what your gun shoots the best. When I say standard construction I mean corlokt, pp, speer hot cor, etc. Pick a bullet weight and go from there. For the 300 WSM I'd say 165-180 gr. Both will do well on deer.

Again, you might state why you are looking for a bullet with minimum expansion. Again, nothing will do less meat damage than the Barnes TXS

I am trying to think of the same idea as I will be using a 300 Win Mag this year. Probably lob a 180 grain SP. I have heard that bullets around 180 gr., the premiums will hardly expand on whitetail as they are designed for much larger game and penetration.

partition, it will maintain a vey high % of bullet weight, i have recoverd and weighed some that retained 85+% of original weight, also have heard the barnes tsx are good, i've just been shootin the partitions so long it what i'm used to and gives great results
