FINALLY!----JEEP AD PULLED!
HEY EVERYONE, NICE JOB! THIS IS THE E-MAIL THAT WAS SENT TO ME YESTERDAY FROM THE DAIMLER-CHRYSLER ASSISTANCE CENTER.
"Thank you for your comments regarding our 30-second Jeep Grand Cherokee television commercial. We value your opinion and appreciate your willingness to share it with us. As you know, outdoor activities and communing with the enviornment are both basic to the DNA of the Jeep brand. That is why for many years Jeep has sponsored and supported a wide range of outdoor events and activities. With this in mind, we created the commercial to communicate the key attributes of Jeep off-road capability, ruggedness, safety and security. Because of our innate involvement with nature and outdoor activities, we felt we could use the hunting analogy in a tongue-in-cheek way to highlight the go anywhere, do anything capability of Jeep vehicles. Unfortunately, we did not anticipate this story line would envoke such negative emotion among some viewers. That was never intended. We appologize if we advertently offended any individual or group. Obviously we underestimated the sensitivity of this issue. Jeep, as the embodiment of the great outdoors, does not want to damage our relationship with any groups or individuals that love, appreciate and enjoy outdoor activities. Nor do we want to damage our relationship with our loyal customers or prospects who reside on either side of this issue. Therefore, because this is so emotionally charged, we will no longer continue this campaing. Again, thank you for sharing your views with us. We hope this clarifies our position." Sounds like a better response than some of the previous responses that I have heard coming from this company about this subject. Being an owner of multiple Jeeps, I think I will take a "once bitten, twice shy" attitude towards this company. Every body makes mistakes, even though I would have thought that they would have been more careful than they were. I think they will now more than ever in the future. GOD JOB TO EVERYONE CONCERNED! |
RE: FINALLY!----JEEP AD PULLED!
Waaaahooooo! If I ever wear out my 95 Dodge I can get me one of those "Mayor of Truckville" trucks. If they had kept up the anti-hunting crap I would have had to go back to Chevy.
Great work guys:)! ![]() |
RE: FINALLY!----JEEP AD PULLED!
I figured they'd pull it. Cooler, smarter heads would have to prevail at a company that owes much of it's success to outdoorsmen & women.

RE: FINALLY!----JEEP AD PULLED!
Finally! it's good to know that by speaking up our voices will be heard. I applaud Jeep for making this change. It would be far to easy for them to have just stood their ground and waited to see the sales drop. I will remember this next time a situation like this comes up and make sure I send a letter again.

RE: FINALLY!----JEEP AD PULLED!
I think we should all thank JEEP for this, so we don't sound like big A-HOLES. Anyone have their address?

That's cool.<img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle> I applaud jeep for deciding to pull it. Goes to show ya that if ya make enough noise, you will be heard.

RE: FINALLY!----JEEP AD PULLED!
Well, I still will never purchase a Jeep! They aren't going to put out a commercial that says they support hunting and they don't think it is bad so they still aren't on my good side. The thousands upon thousands of the non hunting community who saw this probablly think bad of hunters and jeep isn't doing anything to change that idea. Thank them? No way!
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^) |
RE: FINALLY!----JEEP AD PULLED!
Thank them is exactly what we should all do!
They screwed up, we bitched, they fixed it in a hurry. End of story. Whether we make mistakes or not is far less important than what we learn from them and how we conduct ourselves afterward. Jeep took the high road and so should all of us! Richie, could you be kind enough to post their email address so we can do just that! Edited by - BTBowhunter on 01/15/2002 20:26:05 |
