Many a ND night when its 35 below Zero and the wind is howling, I have thought about the wildlife trying to survive in a very harsh land.

It is amazing how they can survive, especially you see some of the smaller last years fawns still with the does.
They say their hide and thick, hollow fur is what can protect them so well. But when it gets really cold, like it's starting to get up in northern MN and into Canada now, it seems the deer head for the thick cover much of the time that they aren't feeding for protection.

RE: OUT IN the COLD

The very first elk I killed was a rag6x. I skull mounted him and tanned the hide with hair on. I slept under the hide a few times, but couldn't stand the heat. That's nothing compared to sleeping under a buffalo hide. All I can say is, "It better be freakin cold out to warrant a night under a buffalo hide."
