Trophy of a lifetime; typical or non-typical?

When you think of harvesting the big-boy bruiser trophy of a lifetime, is it typical or non-typical? I always think typical, as I just prefer the beauty of symmetry. This is not to say that I would not just blow-up over a non-typical though.

My dream buck is a monster main frame 10 point with a drop tine on each side.

Symmetric non typical. Ideally, split brows, G2 kickers, and double drops, but no more than 6-8" drops.

I like typicals and i would like to have a monster one but i think a non-typical would be cool to have up on the wall becuase they are hard to get.

My Dreem buck lives in the woods across the road from my house. He is a Big Main Frame 10 pt with 2 drop tines that are at least 6 inches each. Last fall I seen him 3 times on the way to work in early september. But not during the bow or gun season. This year I seen him the day before bow season and the day after muzzleloader season. This coming season I am going to have to hunt him hard !

I like charactor so I want a big NT, but on my place I have a Typ that is just huge and I am trying to get him so I hold out. I pasted up a NT ( I would say in the 180,s)because I want that HUGE Typ first. I wish they gave us 2 tags would solve my probem :D

I am guessing you meant 180 pounds. A deer that B&C scores in the 180's everyone and their dog will be shooting.

When I seen a typ 2x on my place that is as huge as he is , and you only have one tag its a choice you have to make. I guess I have the patience and will. I madethat mistake before,to take a nice buck and then see a monster and dont plan to again. Since they hang around my land I can hold out. I dont have to get a deer every year and I dont.I enjoy the challenge of wt hunting and just being out there gives me pleasure.

Both. Each is unique in their own way. I wouldn't pass either up.

I think when your dreaming of a buck of a life time you have a certian picture in your mind as what it will look like ...BUT when that time FINALLY comes like it did for me in 2004 ..and your hard work ..persitence and patience pays off ..when you walk up to that buck it wont make any difference if its a typical or non typical ... I was never so elated over anything as I was when we found the non typical I had harvested ....anf the fact it only had a 12 inch inside spread didnt bother me either ...after all it did score 185 1/8 :D

Both is right. One down non-typ to go. Over all, I prefer big typicals.

You know I've shot some large typs 180-185 gross and some pretty good size non typs in the same class....
A buck of a lifetime for me would be something that scores over 200"...
Huge...Reguardless of it being typ or non typ........
You know I've been giving it thought and I can't come up with a decision......
I just hope I don't get buck fever when I see one......:D

I would have to say typical also. There is nothing more beautiful than a perfectly clean rack with next to no deductions.
But, another part of me also wants a big old double drop tine buck with what looks like axe handles coming off the main beams.;)

RE: Trophy of a lifetime; typical or non-typical?

Every deer you take is a trophy, imo. But if I had to choose between two monster bucks, one a typical one a non, I would shoot the typical. A mainframe 10 or 12 with a rack that haston and a half of mass and a spread sooo wide that I can't put my rifle or bow on it.

200" typical

RE: Trophy of a lifetime; typical or non-typical?

Whichever one. I'd love to kill one of each. Overall though i'd have to say a perfectly symmetrical large 10pt is my dream buck. No way id pass up a big non typ though. All deer are trophys in my eyes. Anything you put all you're hard work into getting and finally succed is a trophy.
