deer stands
 
well tthe owner of he land down the road said that he had some stands stolden and me and him bolth would liek to know of the ways you guys do to keep yours stands up and a way to keep them up if u know what i mean!

What kind of stands are you talking about. There are different ways for different stands.

You ain't gonna do much better than a case hardened chain or heavy cable with a QUALITY padlock like an American.

I agree with uncle matt. If you have ladder stands, you can run chain or bicycle cable through the different sections, in addition to chaining and locking the top/seat portion. Hang-on you can chain to the tree. I suppose you can also chain/cable steps to the tree, but may have to be more inventive in how you do it.

I don't know what kind of stands you have but I only use the hang on type with a ladder. What I found works pretty good is like everyone says put a bike lock on it but I use 2 people usually don't want to bother with 2. and as far as the ladders go I drill a hole in the top of the top section and the bottom of the bottom section and scres a lag bolt through them right into the tree. this step only takes a couple of min. and I have never lost one since. People are mostly opertunists and don't come back with a wrench and bolt cutters.
