Default Buckshot or Blackpowder?

Ok heres the deal. I picked up a scope for my 20ga Remington 870 Express last week (last minute decision). Planned on spending a few days sighting it in but then I got sick and was in the hospital. Anyway, I had my first chance to sight it in yesterday and man was I dissapointed. At 25yds I'm shooting 5" groups and at 50yds, well you don't want to know. The gun doesn't have a rifled barrel so I didn't expect rifle accuracy but I figured I'd be able to get decent groups at 50yds.

I sighted in my blackpowder gun at the same time. All three shots are touching dead on at 50yds. So my question is do you think I should use the blackpowder or run OO Buckshot through my 12 gauge? My shots are going to be 50yds or less with most under 30yds.

Now I know accuracy wise there really isn't a question. The problem is the unloading of the blackpowder everyday, and the ease of use. The 12ga would be a lot easier to use but is it worth it?

I've posted about the buckshot a while ago and got a lot of mixed reviews on it so I'm still a bit confused. Season starts Monday so I'm even more confused now.<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

As much as I like buckshot, I would have to go with the muzzleloader. You don't have to unload it everyday, I unload my old sidelock about once a week if it's dry out. Thats another thing, if it's rainy, I would use the shotgun.

When you get the time, try out some different slugs with your 20 ga. Make sure you are using rifled slugs. I use federal 2 3/4&quot; rifled slugs in mine. Make sure you use lock-tite on your scope screws or you'll be shooting off every few shots. Out of a remington 870, there will be at least one slug that shoots good. And the last most important thing about smooth bore shotguns shooting rifled slugs, USE AN IMPROVED or OPEN CHOKE TUBE. The tighter chokes screw up the accuracy of slugs.
