I think it men in general, not just hunters. Part of it's trying to show who is the "pack leader". I think it's also a matter of "steel sharpens steel". Mental and verbal joisting makes each other sharper and better able to perform whatever it is you're trying to get done (e.g. kill and bring home the meat to family). I've heard that surveys show that more women are attracted to fellows that hunt than those who don't. Sorry any of those guys who golf.

Oh, and women who hunt, I think are sexy.

Some here may not understand what I'm about to say, but it has to do with a deep seated sense of inadequency. A sense of "what if I don't live up to others standards", "I have to do what others are doing", etc.....

Fools following fools if you ask me.

takedown, well said, there are enough outsiders against us, trying to end our hobbie or for most, our obsession. We need to unite, not fight.

I believe a majority of the problem comes from our inherant envious, jealous nature. You see someone with a bigger buck, you try to find fault.
It makes our selfs feel better about our short commings.

It's the off season. People have post hunting depression. They are bored and irritable.

It might be jealousy butI think part of it is rage because they don't approve of some hunting methods. I can tell you thatI hate bigshots thatbrag about their deer but don't practice fair chase(I won't giveinsight as to my beliefs, please). I'm not jealous of that kind of a kill, it just pisses me off. You guys all think that it's just jealousy but sometimes it's not atall.I also believe that when you're traeted lesser you tend to try and prove yourself.

Those who shoot big deer also consider themselves better. That trophy doesn't mean a thing to me if you can't appreciate more than the competition or the rack. I don't neccesarily think all hunters with a big rack on the wall are more skilled, they just getluckier sometimes .

Also, if you're experienced and can't encourage the overall fun of the sport by sharing politely and putting yourself at others levels, then don't bother talking. Because you're a veteran doesn't make you the alpha.

I love this site for sharing and discussing. We should all treat each other as friends.

outdoors, I understand about fair chase, but my take is, if someone has the money and they want that and can live with that , then its their decision.

Now I am not a fan of spotlighters, and there are a lot of them. One kid last year that is a known bragger, know it all. He shot a big non typical. word has it he spotlighted in pulling into his hunting property with his headlights, pulled out his shotgun and shot it. Then waited until daylight, shot 2 shots and started hollering. One guy that helped him drag it out said it was cold and stiff for only being shot 45 minute prior. When he asked what that early shot was the guy said he shot at a coyote. Now that chaps my butt, but he will get his own, karma is a "B" and it will come around. I just mind my business and let it all work itself out.

Uninformed, judgemental statements like these will not get you many friends. As a matter of fact, it sounds like jealousy.[:-]

I'd really like to be able to say something and not get accused of something. If you think you are better than me all I gotta say is I don't care. I do my best at everything if thats not good enough for you than just shutup. people have no respect for people with less than a hundred posts which is insane because if you go try to get 100 then they criticize you for just trying to up your post count.
That's bull. IF you post something intelligent and you only have 20 posts, that is alot different from someone posting little stupid smiley's in each post just to get their numbers up. (Or digging up 4 year old post, just to increase the count.)
