how much for a mount

I see several people hee have had thier deer mounted this year.Just curious how much it cost. Was considering having one done myself but the closest taxidermist heres about an hour away and I was looking for a rough idea what I could expect to pay before making the trip down there just to see how his prices compared.

I pay $450, worth every penny. Anyone know what Joe Meder of Iowa is charging now? The taxidermist I use is a 2.5 hour drive from my home and Joe Meder's shop is only a 1.5 hour drive. I was thinking about trying Joe if I shoot another one.

I am paying $360.00 and this guy is an artest he only does deer nothing else. My first one I paid $150.00 for and it shows!! I woulden't shop price I would look at the job he does and pick one that way. One of the important things you want to see is some of hs work that is 3 or 4 years old so you can see how things like the ears and nose hold up over time. Good Luck Mike

Around here you can pay anywhere from $300 to $650, and there is a difference. I paid $300 for the buck that I killed last year, and I paid $650 for the 178" buck that I killed in 2004. The main difference is attention to detail. The $300 mount is a nice mount and looks very good, but the $650 mount looks like it might step out of my wall (very life-like). I would shop around and look at their work before deciding on a taxidermist.
