RE: Is a deer doing this? Is it normal?
Have you actually seen the deer doing this? I have never heard of deer digging a hole bucks will paw up the ground making scrape's but deer's hoves dont bend to be able to cup out the dirt to dig hole's
I would almost bet what it is making the hole's are squirrel's I have watched them dig hole after hole looking for acorn's or small root's

That is a dang big hole to be squirrels, but I don't know of anything that would dig a hole that big, and a bunch of them. You say it is does and bucks and they are teaching the fawns????????????

yeah i once missed a big buck which isn't unusual but after i missed this buck looked me straight in the eye and dug a hole so deep and so fast he disappeared inside of it in a matter of seconds <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
